Ice Skating (Sunshine Street Fiesta)

Community Ice Skating in Whakatāne as part of the Innovating Streets campaign to allow locals and visitors alike to come and enjoy people-friendly spaces along the Strand and Kakaharoa Drive.

Kids (under 16): Gold coin donation*
Adults: Gold coin donation*

Ice skates hire is included and at least half an hour of ice skating (longer if capacity allows). The ice rink is made of artificial ice which has 97% the same gliding capacity as natural ice. 

*All proceeds going to support Apanui School students and teachers

Terms of entry:

• Gloves and helmets are compulsory for kids under 16
• entry is at your own risk
• ice skates only (no shoes!)
• finish your food and drinks before you enter
• we're taking photos for our Facebook page and other media
• the boarding is for safety, not for climbing
• have fun!

For your safety

• Bend your knees and keep your arms out for balance
• grab your knees when you're about to fall
• protect your fingers, keep your fingers tucked in if you fall
• contact staff in case of an accident.
