Local Wild Food Challenge

Returning for 2025, the Local Wild Food Challenge returns as part of the Local Wild Food Festival Day. Awesome prizes to be won!

Individual Cooking Challenge

1. SOURCE - Get out into your natural environment!  Dive, Walk, Climb, Fish, Forage, Hunt, Barter, Garden Gather - The More Effort = More Points. 

2. HARVEST - from the Beach, Bush, Mountain, River, Forest, Ocean, Lake. Your Garden or Someone Else’s, More Local Ingredients = More Points 

3. PREPARE - Shuck, Slice, Marinate, Chop, Smoke, Bake, Ferment, Pickle, Distil, Brew. 

4. ENTER - Write a Story about Your dish, What happened on your Culinary Adventure?  What was your Inspiration?  Why have you chosen these Ingredients? 

Prizes will be awarded to the overall winner and runner up of each category - Open (16+) and Youth (15 & under)

Team Mystery Box Challenge

Whether you are a local business, community group or team of family or friends the Local Wild Food Festival Mystery Box Challenge is for you!

The team Mystery Box Challenge was a highlight of the 2024 event. In teams of 3, you will be given a box of items that you must use to create a dish to WOW the judges! 

Prizes will be awarded to the top team for each round.
