Read and Share with the Library Grannies
Come along to the library during January to read a book with one of the Friends of the Library Grans or talk about a book that you have read and enjoyed.
The Friends of the Library is a small group of volunteers who are committed to fostering a love of books in children. They see the library as a significant community place and know that during school holidays children can drop their engagement with books which can lead to lower levels of literacy when they return to school. Read and Share with the Library Grannies is a Friends of the Library led initiative which offers all children the opportunity to maintain their reading interest by coming into the library to read with one of the Friendly Grannies or simply share stories with them about their favourite books.
Grans will be available in the Children’s Corner of the library between 10.30 am and 12.30 pm, from Wednesday 13 to Saturday 16 January and Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 January.
