Rally Bay of Plenty - Whakatāne

Spectacular car rally action on gravel roads in the Bay of Plenty. It's back, bigger and better than before.

Rally Bay of Plenty 2023 is bought to us by Motorsport BOP Inc. and will start in Whakatāne over the weekend of the 14th and 15th October 2023.

This year the rally is the final round of the Brian Green New Zealand Rally Championship.  

Planning for the rally will see just over 130km of special stage competition on closed public roads including venues familiar to World Rally Championship competitors and spectators such as Stanley Rd, Manawahe Rd and Herepuru Rd.

14th October 2023 - Meet the drivers, see the cars - 3.30 pm, Autograph session 4.30pm, Ceremonial start from 5-6pm
15th October 2023 - Rally Starts 6 am
Service parks - where the cars can be worked on by support crews are located at the Matatā rugby grounds and the Pukehina School.

Starting on Saturday with documentation and then recce, there will be a rally show in the afternoon in Whakatane followed by the ceremonial start from the Kakahoroa Carpark.  After a good night's sleep, up and at 'em early on Sunday morning (15th Oct) with a 6am start again from the Kakahoroa Carpark. They then rally their way back to Mt Maunganui with a finish and prizegiving at the Mount Sports Centre Carpark, topped off with the Official Dinner and Prizegiving at Baypark.
