A dream in stitches

In Te Hono Wai, showing now in the Whakatane Community Board Gallery at Te Koputu a te whanga a toi, artist Jo Torr uses both European stitchery and Maori weaving in her artworks.

She has imagined a dream and embroidered it on to a coat as part of her exhibition.

Come along to draft and create your own simple dream embroidery to take home, using traditional hand embroidery tools and techniques that have changed little since the 19th Century.  We will supply the materials, you just need to bring your creativity!

Suitable for all ages. Children to be supervised please.
