Dan Costa Quartet in association with Chamber Music NZ

The set list will feature original compositions from Dan Costa's latest album Beams, and previous albums Suite Três Rios, Skyness, and Live in California.

Dan Costa is a jazz/world music pianist, composer, and producer. His music reflects his studies of classical music and jazz in Monaco, popular music at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, and jazz at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo in Portugal.

Bill Martin is a jazz saxophonist, pianist and composer based in Dunedin. Bill has played at jazz festivals around New Zealand.

Umar Zakaria is a New Zealand bassist and composer. He was one of three bassists selected worldwide for the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead programme at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. In 2018 he was named Best Jazz Artist by Recorded Music New Zealand.

Carl Woodward is a Dunedin drummer who grew up in Liverpool and was trained in the UK. He is currently the drum tutor in the University of Otago’s Contemporary Music programme.
