Step into Te Kōputu a te Whanga a Toi - Whakatāne Libraries and Galleries and be spellbound by our contemporary arts and culture hub.

This fascinating building opened in June 2012 and hosts the Horizon Energy Group Library Whakatāne, the Whakatāne District Museum display and three gallery spaces.

The Horizon Energy Group Library Whakatāne offers free Wi-Fi, self-checkout, after-hours returns, comfortable places for reading and research and a host of interactive experiences.

Travel through time in the Museum with stories and taonga (treasures) telling the history of the Whakatāne District and beyond.

The three gallery spaces display a fascinating multitude of ever-changing exhibitions from renowned artists and collections. Spend time in this prestigious and empowering place and leave feeling inspired. Entry is by koha.
