Enjoy a secluded holiday, relaxing at the pools, and taking day trip to all the attractions the Bay of Plenty has to offer. Awakeri Hot Springs offers a beautifully peaceful holiday park, just 10 minutes drive from Whakatane.

Both our holiday park guests and the general public can take a dip in our Awakeri thermal hot pools. Our large outdoor hot pool and our private spas are all filled with natural mineral water of around 38 degrees Celsius

Kaputerangi or Toi's Pā is of major historical significance and is part of the Kohi Point Scenic Reserve.

Otuawhaki has great importance for Ngāti Awa as a fishing ground and place of learning.

This bronze statue atop Turuturu Rock lies at the mouth of the Whakatāne River and commemorates the bravery of Wairaka.

This sculpture, commissioned by the Molly Morpeth Canaday Trust and crafted by Jonathon Campbell in 2007, honors the renowned New Zealand author Margaret Mahy.

Te Papaka pa is rich in Ngāti Awa history. From the summit, a magnificent panorama landward and seaward avails. Nowadays the site is no longer inhabited but is open to sightseers.  

Not as well known as the other courses in our District, the Te Teko golf course provides a relaxing atmosphere ideal for the casual golfer and groups.
