Stay the night with us after a big day of taking on the trails in our onsite backpackers, we're walking distance to town, beaches, river and more trails.

Motu Trails - Pakihi Track

There are a number of optional dropoff points if you are going to ride the Pakihi Track, and we provide a shuttle service to any one of them. We also have a large selection of bikes for hire, or you can bring your own. Shower then relax in our lovely courtyard on your return.

The shuttle bus leaves our yard at a pre-determined time. The 90-minute ride takes you through the scenic Waioeka Gorge to Matawai and then inland towards the Pakihi Track. One of the New Zealand Cycle Trails, the track is well-maintained by the Department of Conservation. The track is 21 kilometres one-way, and here you have the option of being picked up at the bottom or riding another 20 kilometres back to our yard. The first half is pretty much all downhill and enveloped with beautiful native bush. The swing bridge marks about the halfway point and follows the pristine Pakihi Stream. Being a downhill ride it does not require a high level of fitness, but total concentration is needed on the ride as there are some steep drops along the way.
