West End Wiggle 2025

We're truly honored to bring you all another West End Wiggle for 2025. This will be our 6th year running the event and we’ve throughly enjoyed how the festival has naturally evolved over the years. We’ve met loads of new faces, made friends for life, witnessed some world class surfing in pumping West End conditions (and some not so favorable conditions too), we’ve grooved until the wee hours and delved into some fine art. The Wiggle is a weekend we hold close to our hearts, and in saying that we can’t wait to do it all again in 2025. 

Surf

The West End Wiggle was born out of a love for surfing. From humble beginnings, the surfing competition has grown to just shy of 100 invitational competitors and free for all fun in the Tag Team Surf Off. West End, Ōhope Beach is a dreamy longboarder’s paradise, with gentle peeling peaks year-round. Surrounded by the natural beauty of NZ native bush-covered cliffs and a pristine beach, it’s the perfect spot for a longboard surf festival.

Art

From the beginning the West End Wiggle has celebrated artistic expression at its core. Each year, the incredible Llyr Williams creates a captivating piece of art that sets the tone for the event. Starting in 2024, we expanded the artistic side of the event further, debuting the waterfront West End Wiggle Art Exhibition, featuring works from talented artists across the country. The exhibition will be back for 2025 (and years to come).

Music

Music has always been at the heart of the Wiggle, as an intrinsic part of surf culture. Each year, as the competition wraps up for prize-giving, the energy shifts from the waves to the dance floor, where the wiggling continues often late into the night. In past years we’ve been treated to some groovy live performances from a range of phenomenal NZ artists. While APRÈS SURF in its full glory is still on hold for 2025, there’s still plenty of evening fun & music for everyone to enjoy.
