Kayaking Moutohora

KG Kayaks

Operating in the Eastern Bay of Plenty since 2002 we offer guided tours and freedom hires in a variety of locations around the Whakatane /Ohope Beach area.

We employ experienced local guides who know the history and local environment and are always keen to share our beautiful backyard. Our relaxing, family friendly Ohiwa Harbour tours and offshore tours at spectacular Moutohorā / Whale Island are particularly popular.

The trip out to Whale Island by sailing catamaran is always memorable, with regular wildlife encounters and a hot water beach experience making it a day to remember.

Freedom hires available all day.

Options are also available for school and business groups.

Safety on the water and catering for occasional kayakers (novices) is what we are about! See you soon!

More things to do

Otarawairere is the hidden jewel of the Whakatāne-Ōhope area. This secluded beach is accessible only on foot or by kayak, but the trip is definitely worth the effort.

Te Toka o Irakewa is one of three landmarks that Toroa was told to look for by his father Irakewa when the Mataatua canoe journeyed to Kakahoroa.

'The Cougar' departs daily from the Ōhope Wharf to take you on your fishing adventure. A great day out for families, or just a group of mates.

Hidden within this complex mural by American street artist Brian Gonnella, Taurahere Tangata, are many stories, references, and important Tīpuna of the Kopeopeo area.

Filled with fresh water from deep underground, it’s the perfect spot for a family picnic and refreshing swim on a hot summer day.
