Let our kaiārahi (local guide) at Ōmataroa Eco Tours transport you through privately owned and secluded Ōmataroa forest lands, and guide you on a journey of manaakitanga (care) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship) of Aotearoa New Zealand's national bird, the kiwi.

Ōmataroa forest is home to Puhikōkō Reserve and Ngākauroa Wetland, recognised as areas of national significance and outstanding natural character. Located in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, just inland from Whakatāne. 

Through Ōmataroa Eco Tours, manuhiri (visitors/guests) are given exclusive access to be transported and guided into beautiful native bush with breath-taking views over the Rangitāiki plains, pacific ocean and out to Te Urewera.
