Trekker Walking through Whirinaki Forest

Whirinaki - Google Street View

Towering trees, rushing rivers, diverse habitats and a fascinating past combine to create the Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tāne Conservation Park. It's one of the New Zealand's most remarkable and significant forests and a must-see biodiversity hotspot - the dense forest supports high numbers of rare birds.

Explore one of many tracks in the park by walking the Waterfall Loop Track with Google Streetview.

"It’s almost best described as something spiritual. It might sound silly but my favourite part was just sitting down over a cup of bush tea for a chat."

A short walk through native bush alongside the crystal clear waters of the Tarawera River leads you to the spectacular Tarawera Falls.
